The push-back racking system has become a key solution in the warehousing industry. It allows companies to increase capacity without sacrificing accessibility—a balance that many businesses need to optimize their operations.
Unlike traditional solutions that force a choice between density and selectivity, push-back racks enable efficient operations while maintaining precise inventory control.
The design of this dynamic rack operates using a mechanism of carriages mounted on inclined rails. Each level can store between 2 and 6 pallets, creating a tunnel system where the pallets slide backward as they are pushed in during loading.
When the forklift deposits a pallet, it pushes the preceding pallets toward the back via interconnected carriages that move on smooth-rolling rollers. When the front load is removed, gravity causes the next pallet to automatically move forward toward the access aisle, ready for immediate unloading.

Versatile storage for LIFO inventory management
Lower Operating Costs
This system eliminates the need for additional aisles between each row of shelving. While a conventional selective rack requires one aisle per row, push-back racks consolidate multiple rear positions into a single central aisle. The result: optimal use of available space with minimal loss of usable floor area.
The last-in, first-out (LIFO) method governs its operation. Products that are received first remain at the back until the most recently received ones are removed.
This feature makes the push-back racking system the ideal choice for goods with moderate turnover or products that do not require strict control of expiration dates, thereby resolving logistical issues related to space congestion.
Warehouses that handle large volumes of the same product with high turnover, such as distributors of beverages or processed foods
Metalworking, automotive, or chemical industries that need to support heavy-duty pallets without compromising stability
Cold storage facilities where every square meter represents significant energy costs and storage density directly impacts profitability
Manufacturing facilities that need to maintain readily available inventories of components with constant but predictable turnover
Online retailers that experience spikes in demand during specific seasons and need the flexibility to scale up capacity
At RackUSA, we offer comprehensive storage rack solutions designed to meet U.S. quality standards. Every project includes custom engineering, professional installation, and ongoing technical support to ensure maximum return on investment.
It increases capacity by up to 90% compared to traditional selective racks, while maintaining direct access from a single aisle.
Forklifts travel shorter distances by concentrating loading and unloading operations in smaller areas, thereby optimizing work cycles.
It provides warehouse optimization benefits without requiring the costly infrastructure of robotic solutions
Make the most of the vertical space in any industrial facility through custom configurations that maximize the available cubic volume.
Reinforced roller and carriage structure specifically designed to withstand heavy-duty operation with heavy loads.
